험프리스, 대한민국 –  한미연합군사령부(연합사)는 11월 15일(화) 평택 험프리스 기지에서 부대 이전 완료 기념식 개최하였습니다. 

USAG Humphreys, Republic of Korea – The Combined Forces Command (CFC) conducted its relocation ceremony on Tuesday, November 15th here.

연합사는 44년 동안 용산에 위치해 왔으며, 연합사의 이전은 지난 2019년 6월 한미 국방장관 회담 및 2021년 12월 개최된 제 53차 한미안보협의회의 (SCM)에서 연합사 이전을 완료하기로 한 결정에 따른 것입니다.

CFC had been located at United States Army Garrison Yongsan for 44 Years, when the relocation was decided during the ROK-U.S. defense minister's conference in June 2019 and the 53rd ROK-U.S. Security Consultative Meeting (SCM) in December 2021.

이종섭 국방장관은 축사를 통해 “북한의 위협이 고도화되는 상황에서 연합사의 평택시대 개막은 큰 의미가 있다” 며, “연합사 한미장병들이 든든한 친구이자 전우로서 언제나 서로 믿고, 의지하고, 함께하며, 보다 확고한 ‘Fight Tonight’ 태세를 갖춰나가기 바란다’고 말하였습니다.

Minister of National Defense Lee Jong Sup said in congratulatory remarks, “The beginning of the Pyeongtaek era for CFC is very meaningful in the face of North Korea's growing threat," adding, "I hope South Korean and U.S. service members always trust, rely on each other and maintain firm ‘Fight Tonight’ readiness.

유엔사/연합사/주한미군 사령관 폴 라캐머라 대장 주관으로 진행된 이번 행사에서 사령관은 “이종섭 국방장님의 비전과 리더십덕에 연합사 이전을 마무리 할 수 있었기에 감사드립니다. 수 년 전에 심었던 씨앗이 결실을 맺게 되었습니다. 장관님의 비전과 기대에 부응하도록 하겠습니다,"라고 밝혔습니다.

Gen. Paul LaCamera, United Nations Command/Combined Forces Command/United States Forces Korea Commander, hosted the ceremony saying, “To Minister Lee who started as the project officer of this move… Thank you for your vision and leadership for making this happen. The seeds you planted all those years ago have grown and blossomed, may we live up to your vision and expectations.”

연합사 부사령관 안병석 대장은 "한미연합사 전 장병들은 이곳 평택에서 더 가깝고 더 강하게 하나가 되어 우리에게 주어진 한반도 평화수호의 숭고한 임무를 지속 완수해 나갈 것임은 물론, 한미 공동의 가치와 신뢰를 바탕으로 한미동맹과 한미연합군 사령부의 진화적인 발전을 위해 함께 전진해 나아갈 것”이라고 강조했습니다.

CFC Deputy Commander General Ahn Byung Suk emphasized, "All CFC South Korean and U.S. service members will become one – closer and stronger – and continue to fulfill the noble mission given to us to protect peace on the Korean Peninsula here in Pyeongtaek, as well as marching forward together to advance the ROK-US alliance and CFC based on common values and trust.”

정장선 평택시장은 "58만 평택시민과 함께 연합사 이전을 환영합니다. 한미동맹의 근간이 평택에서 이루어지고 있는 지금, 평택의 자부심도 높습니다. 계속하여 평택시는 한미 문화가 조화롭게 교류하며 공존할 수 있도록 노력하고 국가안보의 핵심 도시로서 역할을 해나가겠습니다,"라고 환영의 메시지를 전해왔습니다.

The mayor of Pyeongtaek, Jung Jang Seon said, "We 580,000 Pyeongtaek citizens welcome the relocation of CFC. We feel proud to be the site where the ROK-U.S. alliance meets once again. Pyeongtaek city will put effort to make the co-existence of the ROK-U.S. culture available and to serve as the main city leading national security.”

한미동맹의 상징인 연합사는1978년 11월 7일 창설되었으며, 침략을 억제하고 유사시 대한민국을 방위하는 임무를 계속하고 있습니다.

CFC was established November 7, 1978, and has proved to be a symbol of the ROK-U.S. alliance. Today, it continues in its mission to deter aggression and if necessary, defend the ROK.
