A USFK contractor, who works on U.S. Army Garrison - Yongsan, tested positive for COVID-19 Jan. 7.
The individual, who lives in Seoul, last visited USAG-Yongsan on Dec. 31.
He is currently in isolation at his off-base residence while awaiting transportation to a USAG-Humphreys facility designated for confirmed COVID-19 cases.
KDCA and USFK health professionals are actively conducting contact tracing to determine whether anyone else may have been exposed to this individual, and to identify and ensure all known on-post and off-post facilities visited are thoroughly identified and cleaned.
Despite the confirmed cases, USFK remains at a high level of readiness with less than 1% of its active duty service members currently confirmed positive with COVID-19.
USFK continues to maintain a robust combined defense posture to protect the Republic of Korea against any threat or adversary, while maintaining prudent preventive measures to protect the force and the mission.
