Republic of Korea Joint Chiefs of Staff, the U.S. Joint Staff, and U.S. Forces Korea hosted the first military-to-military TTX ‘Iron Mace’ at Camp Humphreys, Pyeongtaek, ROK, from July 30-Aug. 1, 2024.

Participants discussed ways to strengthen extended deterrence, including how to enable joint planning for ROK conventional support to U.S. strategic operations in a contingency. The TTX is a direct due out from U.S. President Joe Biden and ROK President Yoon Suk Yeol’s April 2023 Washington Declaration and contributes to the work directed in the Nuclear Consultative Group Guidelines Document.

Moving forward, the ROK and U.S. agreed to conduct additional CNI TTXs to advance alliance goals.
