Update: USFK Implements Enhanced COVID-19 Mitigation Measures

By USFK Public Affairs

Due to the recent rise of confirmed COVID-19 cases within United States Forces Korea and South Korea, USFK has implemented enhanced COVID-19 mitigation measures effective July 9 at 12 p.m. until August 27 at 11:59 p.m.

Due to the associated risk of potential exposure to the virus, all bars and clubs - regardless of vaccination status - are off-limits pen-wide.

All USFK-affiliated individuals are required to wear masks indoors on all USFK installations - regardless of vaccination status - in all common areas including post/base exchanges, commissaries, banks, post offices, taxis and buses.

Regarding gyms, vaccinated personnel may remove masks at on-post gyms while actively exercising, but only if physically distancing can be maintained; unvaccinated personnel must wear masks in gyms at all times.

Travel to Areas I and II is off-limits except for individuals who live, work, or are conducting mission essential activities. All other travel requires an exception to policy letter signed by the battalion or squadron commander, or civilian equivalent, within the individual or sponsor’s chain of command.

The exact boundary for Areas I and II are viewable on USFK’s Interactive Hotspot Map.

Those who reside within Areas I and II are authorized travel to Areas III, IV and Jeju without restriction.

All USFK-affiliated individuals are reminded to adhere to all USFK core tenets, HPCON measures and ROK government and local directives to protect yourself, your bubble and others from COVID-19.

USFK will continue to monitor the current COVID-19 situation within USFK and South Korea, and will make an assessment regarding these enhanced mitigation measures in the coming weeks.
