United States Forces Korea will implement a “working quarantine” for its fully vaccinated affiliated community beginning today.
USFK’s quarantine policy change closely aligns with the Republic of Korea’s May 5 decision regarding fully vaccinated ROK citizens.
USFK defines fully vaccinated as the completion of a U.S. Food and Drug Administration authorized COVID vaccine plus 14 days, and so far USFK has achieved an approximate 70% vaccination rate with inoculations being given daily and now offered to all personnel upon arrival.
With the exception to authorizing fully vaccinated individuals the ability to exercise “limited” travel from their approved quarantine location to a USFK duty location for work and/or to engage in on-installation health and safety activities, and a mid-point PCR test, there is no change to USFK’s current mandatory quarantine policy.
All service members, civilians, contractors and family members will adhere to all ROK and USFK established entry requirements including entry and exit PCR tests, remain symptom free during quarantine and provide a daily health assessment for the duration of the mandatory 14 day quarantine period.
All USFK-affiliated personnel must continue to follow all South Korean rules, directives and laws regarding COVID-19, including all ROK government established social distancing level mitigation measures, and adhere to USFK core health protection tenets, including mandatory mask wear both on and off-installation, as required.
While USFK is implementing a working quarantine to its quarantine policy, it is not adjusting its health protection condition: all bars, clubs, karaoke rooms, saunas, bathhouses, off-installation gyms and establishments that restrict entrance to adults only are prohibited.
