Overview
The A‑3 Visa is granted under the Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) to:
- United States Forces Korea (USFK) service members
- Civilian employees
- Family members (of the above)
General Rule
Under the A3 VISA, activities outside the scope of official duties, including employment, are generally restricted. Nonetheless, there is a means to proceed. After obtaining a permit for participating in activities not covered by the current status of stay, you may engage in certain types of employment or activities.
Permitted Work Categories
Some activities under the E1 to E7 VISA categories may be permitted. All cases are subject to individual review and approval
- E‑1: Professor
- E‑2: Foreign Language Instructor
- E‑3: Researcher
- E‑4: Technician
- E‑5: Professional
- E‑6: Entertainer
- E‑7: Special Ability
Required Documents
Applicants must prepare the following:
- Application Form
- Certificate of Service
- Passport
- SOFA ID Card
- Processing Fee
- Documents related to the relevant employment category
In case of a Sponsor, Letter of Consent from the head of the affiliated organization (employer) is also required.
