Four USFK-affiliated Individuals Confirmed with COVID-19

PA-001-21 | Jan. 25, 2021

Four USFK-affiliated individuals tested positive for COVID-19 on Jan. 23 and 25.

One Department of Defense civilian, who works on United States Army Garrison - Humphreys, tested positive on Jan. 23 following his direct contact with an individual who tested positive on Jan. 22.

Two dependents of a service member assigned to USAG - Yongsan who have access to the installation, tested positive on Jan. 23 and Jan. 25 after providing screening samples as part of USFK’s enhanced surveillance testing; both dependents last visited USAG-Yongsan on Jan. 21.

One Department of Defense civilian, who works on United States Army Garrison - Yongsan and has been in quarantine, tested positive on Jan. 25 during his mandatory test required to exit quarantine.

All four individuals are currently in isolation at a USAG-Humphreys facility designated for confirmed COVID-19 cases.

KDCA and USFK health professionals are actively conducting contact tracing to determine whether anyone else may have been exposed to these individuals, and to identify and ensure all known on-post and off-post facilities visited are thoroughly cleaned.

Despite the confirmed cases, USFK remains at a high level of readiness with less than 1% of its active duty service members currently confirmed positive with COVID-19.

USFK continues to maintain a robust combined defense posture to protect the Republic of Korea against any threat or adversary while maintaining prudent preventive measures to protect the force and the mission.
