Kurush Morris (right), commanding officer of the Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Shiloh (CG 67), greets a Republic of Korea Navy officer as the ship arrives in Busan. Shiloh is conducting routine patrols and maritime security operations in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility to promote stability and develop key partnerships with allies across the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.

Service Members Remember ROKS Cheonan

SEOUL, Republic of Korea (March 24, 2015) – Rear Adm. Lisa Franchetti, Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Korea, burns incense in front of a memorial dedicated to the Korean sailors lost during the sinking of ROKS Cheonan (PCC-772) during a memorial service at the CNFK headquarters in Seoul. The 1,200-ton ship broke into two from an explosion, suspected to be from a North Korean torpedo, on March 26, 2010, while operating in waters west of the Korean peninsula. Of the 104-man crew, 46 Korean Sailors perished in the incident, along with a ROK navy diver who lost his life during the subsequent rescue efforts. UNC Sending States Participate in Key Resolve 15

Gen. Soon Jin Lee, commander of Republic of Korea Army 2nd Operational Command, greets Australian Air Force Capt. Ralph Kettle, deputy director of Multi-National Coordination Center, during an office call at the 2OC Headquarters in Daegu, Republic of Korea March 4 as part of the annual Key Resolve Exercise. This exercise includes multi-national forces that contribute to readiness as United Nations Command “Sending States”. The Sending States are comprised of the 16 nations that provided combat, combat support, or combat service support during the Korean War and were present during the signing of the Armistice Agreement. Their contributions are coordinated through the MNCC.
