U.S. Army Garrison Yongsan –
Members of the Korean-American Association and People-to-People International-Korea participated in U.S. Forces Korea Executive Orientation Program II, June, 1.
The program brings community and business leaders from Seoul up to date on the transformation and relocation effort of USFK and 8th Army. The tour included an update on the progress of construction at Camp Humphreys including a windshield tour of all the new facilities and a tour and command brief at Osan Air Base.
Approximately, 130 people participated in the program, including several former Korean ambassadors.
“This program is an important part of the transition and relocation effort,” said Stephen M. Tharp, director of community relations and strategic outreach for USFK. “It allows us to keep our neighbors informed and will help us maintain those relationships as we transition down to Camp Humphreys.”
Most of USFK and 8th Army will relocate to new headquarters at Camp Humphreys by the end of the summer of 2017. The move will complete a decade-long effort to modernize the force structure across the Peninsula.
