Two USFK Service Members Recovered from COVID-19

By USFK Public Affairs

Two USFK active duty service members who tested positive for COVID-19 have been declared virus-free by USFK military medical doctors.

Along with the two service members, 23 other USFK-related personnel have been declared COVID-19 virus-free since March 15.

The first service member, a female Soldier who tested positive on March 27, spent 49 days in isolation, and has returned to her Camp Humphreys quarters and will return to duty soon.

The second service member, a male Sailor who tested positive on May 8, will remain on Camp Humphreys as he completes in-processing before moving onward to his assignment at Busan.

Both service members were cleared from isolation after having been asymptomatic for more than seven days, being fever-free without the use of fever-reducing medications, successfully passing two consecutive COVID-19 tests with negative results at least 24 hours apart, and being cleared by USFK medical providers.

Despite the two recovered service members, USFK remains at HPCON Charlie as it continues to monitor and assess the current COVID-19 conditions within South Korea.

USFK remains committed to providing a robust combined defense posture while maintaining “Fight Tonight” readiness to protect the Republic of Korea against any adversary or threat while implementing and maintaining prudent preventive control measures to protect the force.
