Following the U.S. Health and Human Services’ announcement of a U.S. public health emergency related to the novel coronavirus outbreak, USFK has instituted a 14-day self-quarantine for U.S. servicemembers returning from mainland China to South Korea on or after Jan. 19, effective Sunday, Feb. 2 at noon.
주한미군 사령부는 미국 보건복지부가 신종 코로나바이러스 발병과 관련하여 미국 공중보건 비상사태를 발표함에 따라 2월 2일 정오부터, 1월 19일 이후 중국 본토에서 한국으로 입국한 미군 병사들에 대해 14일간의 자체 격리조치를 실행하기로 하였다.
USFK does not have any personnel who have returned from Wuhan or Hubei province, the epicenter of the novel coronavirus outbreak, since Jan. 19 and therefore will not be directing a quarantine as the U.S. HHS is implementing.
주한미군 사령부에는 1월 19일 이후 신종 코로나바이러스 발병의 진원지인 우한이나 후베이성에서 입국한 주한미군 장병은 없으며 이에 따라 미국 보건복지부가 시행하는 강제 격리 조치는 없을 것이다.
Any U.S. servicemember who shows symptoms, and/or they are confirmed with the novel coronavirus, will immediately be put under evaluation by USFK medical professionals.
신종 코로나바이러스 증상을 보이거나 확진 판정을 받게 되는 미군 병사는 주한미군 의료진에게 즉시 검사를 받게 될 것이다.
The directed self-quarantine implementation only applies to U.S. servicemembers who reside on or off USFK installations, and is highly encouraged for family members, DoD civilians, contractors, United Nation Command military personnel and Korean National employees to follow as well in the interest of public health.
자체 격리는 영내와 영외에서 거주하고 있는 미군에게만 적용되며, 가족들, 미 군무원, 계약직 근로자, 유엔군 사령부 인원 및 한국인 직원들도 공중보건을 위해 이 조치를 따를 것을 강력히 권장한다.
The 14-day quarantine, which equals the incubation period for novel coronavirus, begins from the date an individual returns to South Korea, regardless if they display symptoms or not.

USFK actions regarding quarantine for recent returnees are consistent with ROK JCS actions imposed on their military personnel who’ve returned from China.
주한미군이 중국에서 입국한 군인을 격리하는 것은 한국 합참이 중국에서 돌아온 한국군 장병들을 격리한 조치 와도 일치한다.
USFK continues to stress the overall risk to USFK personnel remains low, but that the quarantine measures implemented are out of an abundance of caution to mitigate risk to the USFK population.
