PA-001-23 | Nov. 2, 2023

USAG HUMPHREYS, Republic of Korea —

Combined Forces Command hailed their 31st Deputy Commander Gen. Kang Shin Chul during a ceremony at U.S. Army Garrison Humphreys, Pyeongtaek, South Korea today.

This event, organized by both U.S. and South Korean officials, included the playing of the U.S. and South Korean national anthems and welcome remarks from Gen. Paul LaCamera, commander, United Nations Command/Combined Forces Command/United States Forces Korea.

"[Gen. Kang] will continue to work at strengthening lines and building a ready coalition. We should be proud of the achievements of our combined fighting forces, but should never be satisfied," LaCamera said. "As you take on this new role, continue to focus on readiness, communicate with your commanders at all levels, and ensure we are ready to defend the homelands."

Also, during the ceremony, Kang rendered his inaugural speech as the incoming CFC deputy commander.

“The ROK-U.S. Alliance was forged with the blood of senior comrades-in-arms, and the Combined Forces Command,” Kang said.
