A USFK contractor, who works at Camp Humphreys, tested positive for COVID-19 today.
The contractor, a U.S. citizen, last visited Camp Humphreys on April 1 and has been in self-quarantine at his off-installation residence since then. His USFK leadership directed him to quarantine because he had been in direct contact to a person who tested positive for COVID-19.
KCDC and USFK health professionals determined contact tracing and thorough cleaning of Camp Humphreys facilities were not necessary due to his quarantine status and lack of interaction with others since April 1.
This confirmed case stands as a testament to USFK’s standing policy to immediately quarantine anyone who had direct contact with a known person who tested for COVID-19. Due to this policy, the patient minimized his exposure and interaction with others and helped contain the virus' spread.
As a precautionary measure to protect the force, Camp Humphreys remains at HPCON C+ as it continues contact tracing of its recent confirmed COVID-19 cases.
USFK remains at risk level "high" peninsula-wide and is implementing all appropriate control measures, including a declared Public Health Emergency on March 25, as prudent decisions to protect the force and stop the spread of COVID-19.
Additional information will be provided by USFK as it becomes available.
USFK continues to maintain a robust combined defense posture to protect the Republic of Korea against any threat or adversary while maintaining HPCON C+ preventative measures.
