Ulchi Freedom Shield

Ulchi Freedom Shield – a combined, joint, all-domain, and interagency operating environment. This annual exercise aims to build understanding between Combined Forces Command, United States Forces Korea, the United Nations Command, and ROK Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS), ensuring their ability to fortify the combined defense posture and enhance Alliance response capabilities against a spectrum of security threats. It will feature live, virtual, constructive and field-based training, engaging personnel from the various military services.

An MQ-4C Triton operated by Unmanned Patrol Squadron (VUP) 19, takes first flight as initial operational capability on Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, Aug. 18. The Triton has an operating altitude greater than 50,000 feet and endurance greater than 24 hours, which provides continuous communications relay to keep a distributed Navy connected and ensures commanders are operating from a shared operational picture.
