Gen. Paul J. LaCamera, Commander of United Nations Command, Combined Forces Command, and U.S. Forces Korea, held a phone call with Republic of Korea Acting President and Prime Minister Han Duck-soo on Dec. 15.
Han expressed his gratitude for the dedication of service members in strengthening the Alliance. He also voiced concerns about threats posed by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea amid the emergency situation in the ROK following the suspension of presidential duties. Despite these challenges, Han highlighted the importance of maintaining a strong Alliance while emphasizing the need to strengthen communication and cooperation.
LaCamera assured Han that, as the CFC Commander under the US-ROK bilateral defense structure, he will work to mitigate any risks to planned combined training activities, operations, and investments, while reaffirming the ironclad commitment to the combined defense. As the UNC Commander and the USFK Commander, he emphasized his commitment to executing responsibilities for joint readiness, Armistice enforcement, and coalition strength.
