CFC celebrates 46th anniversary

PA-001-24 | Nov. 6, 2024

CAMP HUMPHREYS, PYEONGTAEK, South Korea —

The Republic of Korea-United States Combined Forces Command marked its 46th anniversary with a ceremony chaired by Deputy Commander Gen. Kang Shin Chul on Nov. 7 at Camp Humphreys, Pyeongtaek.

Attendees included key military personnel from both ROK and U.S. armed forces.

“We must demonstrate the strength of the ROK-U.S. alliance, especially as North Korea and Russia pursue extreme actions, much like a prisoner’s dilemma scenario,” Gen. Kang said.

Established on Nov. 7, 1978, CFC stands as a core symbol of the ROK-U.S. Alliance, serving as the wartime command and control headquarters for ROK, U.S., and allied international military forces. Its mission is to deter and defend against external aggression towards the ROK, a mission CFC has successfully upheld for over four decades.

“To deter such actions, CFC must strive for orchestration, like a well-tuned symphony, working together to overcome any challenges,” Gen. Kang added. “The cornerstone of our strength lies in our enduring bond—a bond forged in trust and the readiness to stand together on the battlefield.”

With the unwavering strength of the ROK-U.S. Alliance, CFC remains committed to maintaining its “Fight Tonight” readiness posture to defend ROK and deter any threats or adversaries, serving as a symbol of the Alliance.
