CAMP HUMPHREYS, South Korea —
Republic of Korea Minister of National Defense Kim Yong Hyun visited Camp Humphreys for the first time since taking office, October 4.
The ROK defense minister met with Gen. Paul LaCamera, commander of United Nations Command, Combined Forces Command and U.S. Forces Korea, and senior leaders from the Tri-Command.
Both the minister and commander reaffirmed the ironclad commitment to a strong combined defense readiness posture during discussions on the importance of routine combined training.
The two parties agreed that strong communication and cooperation between the ROK and U.S. militaries are essential for maintaining and advancing the combined defense posture. They pledged to continuously enhance collaboration across all domains. Additionally, both sides agreed to strengthen combined exercises and training to build capabilities to deter aggression.
In addition, the minister received operational briefings and witnessed the "We Go Together" spirit demonstrated by all service members he encountered.
