Thirteen USFK-affiliated Individuals Confirmed with COVID-19

PA-001-21 | Oct. 28, 2021

Thirteen USFK-affiliated individuals tested positive for COVID-19 between Oct. 21 and 26.

Five service members stationed at United States Army Garrison–Humphreys, and one service member and one Korean Augmentation to the U.S. Army stationed at Camp Hovey tested positive between Oct. 22 and 26 after developing symptoms consistent with COVID-19.

Three family members stationed at Osan Air Base tested positive on Oct. 22 after providing a screening sample as part of USFK’s contact tracing for their direct contact with individuals who recently tested positive for the virus.

One family member stationed at USAG–Humphreys tested positive on Oct. 23 after receiving notification from a local Korean public health department as part of contact tracing for exposure at an off-installation location.

Two service members stated at USAG–Humphreys tested positive on Oct. 21 and 26 after providing a screening sample as part of USFK’s enhanced surveillance testing.

All individuals are currently in isolation at a facility designated for confirmed COVID-19 cases at USAG–Humphreys, Osan Air Base or their residence.

KDCA, local government public health and USFK health professionals are actively conducting contact tracing to determine whether anyone else may have been exposed to these individuals and to identify and ensure all known on-post and off-post facilities visited by the individuals are thoroughly cleaned.

USFK remains at a high level of readiness with more than 85% of its affiliated community vaccinated, and less than 1% of its active duty service members currently confirmed positive with COVID-19.

USFK continues to maintain a robust combined defense posture to protect the Republic of Korea against any threat or adversary, while maintaining prudent preventive measures to protect the force.
