Nine USFK-affiliated Individuals Confirmed with COVID-19

PA-001-21 | Oct. 24, 2021

Nine USFK-affiliated individuals tested positive for COVID-19 between Oct. 15 and 21.

Two service members and one family member stationed at United States Army Garrison–Humphreys, and one family member stationed at USAG–Daegu tested positive between Oct. 18 and 21 after developing symptoms consistent with COVID-19.

One service member, one contractor and two family members stationed at USAG–Humphreys tested positive between Oct. 15 and 18 after providing a screening sample as part of USFK’s contact tracing for their direct contact with individuals who recently tested positive for the virus.

One service member stationed at USAG–Humphreys tested positive on Oct. 19 after providing a testing sample as part of routine medical procedures.

All individuals are currently in isolation at a facility designated for confirmed COVID-19 cases at USAG–Humphreys, Osan Air Base or a Korean medical facility.

KDCA, local government public health and USFK health professionals are actively conducting contact tracing to determine whether anyone else may have been exposed to these individuals and to identify and ensure all known on-post and off-post facilities visited by the individuals are thoroughly cleaned.

USFK remains at a high level of readiness with more than 85% of its affiliated community vaccinated, and less than 1% of its active duty service members currently confirmed positive with COVID-19.

USFK continues to maintain a robust combined defense posture to protect the Republic of Korea against any threat or adversary, while maintaining prudent preventive measures to protect the force.
