Seven USFK Service Members Confirmed with COVID-19

PA-001-21 | Aug. 13, 2021

Seven USFK service members tested positive for COVID-19 on Aug. 11 and 12.

Three service members stationed at Osan Air Base and one service member stationed at Camp Hovey tested positive on Aug. 11 and 12 after developing symptoms consistent with COVID-19.

Two other service members stationed at Osan Air Base tested positive on Aug. 11 and 12 after providing a screening sample as part of USFK’s contact tracing for their direct contact with individuals who recently tested positive for the virus.

One service member stationed at United States Army Garrison – Humphreys tested positive on Aug. 11 after providing a screening sample prior to medical treatment.

All seven individuals are currently in isolation at a facility designated for confirmed COVID-19 cases at USAG – Humphreys or Osan Air Base.

KDCA, local government public health and USFK health professionals are actively conducting contact tracing to determine whether anyone else may have been exposed to these individuals and to identify and ensure all known on-post and off-post facilities visited by the individuals are thoroughly cleaned.

USFK remains at a high level of readiness with more than 80% of its affiliated community vaccinated, and less than 1% of its active duty service members currently confirmed positive with COVID-19.

USFK continues to maintain a robust combined defense posture to protect the Republic of Korea against any threat or adversary, while maintaining prudent preventive measures to protect the force.
