Eight USFK service members tested positive for COVID-19 on Aug. 10.

Four service members stationed at Osan Air Base tested positive after developing symptoms consistent with COVID-19, and three other service members stationed at Osan Air Base tested positive after providing a screening sample as part of USFK’s contact tracing for their direct contact with individuals who recently tested positive for the virus.

One service member stationed at United States Army Garrison – Humphreys tested positive after providing a screening sample as part of USFK’s enhanced surveillance testing.

All eight individuals are currently in isolation at a facility designated for confirmed COVID-19 cases at USAG – Humphreys or Osan Air Base.

KDCA, local government public health and USFK health professionals are actively conducting contact tracing to determine whether anyone else may have been exposed to these individuals and to identify and ensure all known on-post and off-post facilities visited by the individuals are thoroughly cleaned. 

USFK remains at a high level of readiness with more than 85% of its affiliated community vaccinated, and less than 1% of its active duty service members currently confirmed positive with COVID-19.

USFK continues to maintain a robust combined defense posture to protect the Republic of Korea against any threat or adversary, while maintaining prudent preventive measures to protect the force.
