Twenty-One USFK-affiliated Individuals Confirmed with COVID-19

PA-001-21 | July 15, 2021

Twenty-one USFK-affiliated individuals tested positive for COVID-19 between July 8 and 13.

Thirteen individuals, two service members and one Korean National contractor stationed at United States Army Garrison – Humphreys, two service members and one DoD civilian stationed at K-16, three service members and two Korean National contractors stationed at Camp Casey, one service member stationed at Camp Carroll, and one service member stationed at Kunsan Air Base, tested positive between July 8 and 13 after developing symptoms consistent with COVID-19.

Eight service members, five stationed at Camp Casey, two stationed at Kunsan Air Base and one stationed at Suwon Air Base, tested positive between July 11 and 13 after providing a screening sample during USFK’s contact tracing following their direct contact with individuals who recently tested positive for the virus.

All individuals are currently in isolation at a facility designated for confirmed COVID-19 cases at USAG – Humphreys, Osan Air Base or a Republic of Korea isolation facility.

KDCA and USFK health professionals are actively conducting contact tracing to determine whether anyone else may have been exposed to these individuals and to identify and ensure all known on-post and off-post facilities visited by the individuals are thoroughly cleaned.

Despite the recent confirmed cases, USFK remains at a high level of readiness with more than 80% of its affiliated community vaccinated, and less than 1% of its active duty service members currently confirmed positive with COVID-19.

USFK continues to maintain a robust combined defense posture to protect the Republic of Korea against any threat or adversary, while maintaining prudent preventive measures to protect the force.
