Thirty-Seven USFK-affiliated Individuals Confirmed with COVID-19

Thirty-seven USFK-affiliated individuals tested positive for COVID-19 between July 5 and 7.

 

One Korean Augmentation to the U.S. Army stationed at Camp Casey tested positive on July 5 after providing a screening sample required to return to duty.

 

Two Korean local nationals working at United States Army Garrison – Humphreys, four service members and one KATUSA stationed at Camp Casey, and one service member stationed at Osan Air Base tested positive between July 5 and 7 after developing symptoms consistent with COVID-19.

 

Two service members, one stationed at USAG – Humphreys and one stationed at Camp Casey, tested positive on July 6 after providing a screening sample prior to medical treatment.

 

Fifteen service members and one KATUSA stationed at Camp Casey, one service member stationed at Camp Hovey, two service members stationed at Osan Air Base, and three service members and two family members stationed at K-16  tested positive on July 6 and 7 after providing a screening sample during USFK’s contact tracing following their direct contact with individuals who recently tested positive for the virus.

 

Two service members, one stationed at Camp Casey and one stationed at Osan Air Base, tested positive on July 7 after provide a screening sample required to return to the United States.

 

All individuals are currently in isolation at a facility designated for confirmed COVID-19 cases at USAG - Humphreys, Osan Air Base and Republic of Korea isolation facility.

 

KDCA and USFK health professionals are actively conducting contact tracing to determine whether anyone else may have been exposed to these individuals and to identify and ensure all known on-post and off-post facilities visited by the individuals are thoroughly cleaned. 

 

Despite the recent confirmed cases, USFK remains at a high level of readiness with more than 80% of its affiliated community vaccinated, and less than 1% of its active duty service members currently confirmed positive with COVID-19.

 

USFK continues to maintain a robust combined defense posture to protect the Republic of Korea against any threat or adversary, while maintaining prudent preventive measures to protect the force.
