Thirteen USFK-affiliated Individuals Confirmed with COVID-19

PA-001-21 | June 25, 2021

Thirteen USFK-affiliated individuals tested positive for COVID-19 between June 22 – 24.

One family member of a service member stationed at United States Army Garrison – Humphreys and two service members stationed at Camp Casey tested positive on June 22 and 24 after developing symptoms consistent with COVID-19.

Nine service members and a family member of a service member stationed at USAG – Humphreys tested positive between June 22 - 24 after providing a screening sample during USFK’s  contact tracing following their direct contact with individuals who recently tested positive for the virus.

All thirteen individuals are currently in isolation at a USAG – Humphreys facility designated for confirmed COVID-19 cases.

“We are currently experiencing two small COVID-19 clusters on USAG-Humphreys and Camp Casey,” said Gen. Robert B. “Abe” Abrams, USFK Commander. “Even though we are close to achieving an 80% vaccination of our community, now is not the time to become complacent. We must adhere to the USFK core tenets and remain vigilant as we stamp out these recent clusters.”

KDCA and USFK health professionals are actively conducting contact tracing to determine whether anyone else may have been exposed to these individuals, and to identify and ensure all known on-post and off-post facilities visited by the individuals are thoroughly cleaned.

Despite the recent confirmed cases, USFK remains at a high level of readiness with approximately 80% of its affiliated community vaccinated, and less than 1% of its active duty service members currently confirmed positive with COVID-19

USFK continues to maintain a robust combined defense posture to protect the Republic of Korea against any threat or adversary, while maintaining prudent preventive measures to protect the force.
