Two USFK-affiliated individuals tested positive for COVID-19 on May 27 and 28 following their direct contact with someone who tested positive for the virus.
A Korean National contractor, who works at United States Army Garrison – Yongsan tested positive on May 27, last visited the installation on May 25, and is currently in isolation at a Korean medical facility designated for confirmed COVID-19 cases.
A USFK service member stationed at United States Army Garrison – Humphreys tested positive on May 28, and is currently in isolation at a USAG – Humphreys facility designated for confirmed COVID-19 cases.
KDCA and USFK health professionals are actively conducting contact tracing to determine whether anyone else may have been exposed to these individuals, and to identify and ensure all known on-post and off-post facilities visited by the individuals are thoroughly cleaned.
Despite the recent confirmed cases, USFK remains at a high level of readiness with less than 1% of its active duty service members currently confirmed positive with COVID-19.
USFK continues to maintain a robust combined defense posture to protect the Republic of Korea against any threat or adversary, while maintaining prudent preventive measures to protect the force and the mission.
