Two USFK-affiliated Individuals Confirmed with COVID-19

PA-001-21 | Feb. 18, 2021

Two USFK-affiliated individuals tested positive for COVID-19 on Feb. 4 and 10.

One USFK service member, who is stationed at Camp Casey, tested positive on Feb. 4 after providing a screening sample as part of USFK’s enhanced surveillance testing program. This is a correction to a previous statement on Feb. 11 that said the service member was a “false positive”.

The spouse of a service member stationed in the United States, who has access to USFK installations but last visited one almost a year ago, tested positive at the Songtan Health Center on Feb. 10 following her direct contact with a non-USFK individual who previously tested positive for the virus; USFK was recently informed of this confirmed case.

Both individuals are currently in isolation at a USAG-Humphreys facility designated for confirmed COVID-19 cases.

KDCA and USFK health professionals actively conducted contact tracing to determine whether anyone else were exposed to these individuals, and ensured all known on-post and off-post facilities visited were thoroughly cleaned.

Despite the confirmed cases, USFK remains at a high level of readiness with less than 1% of its active duty service members currently confirmed positive with COVID-19.

USFK continues to maintain a robust combined defense posture to protect the Republic of Korea against any threat or adversary while maintaining prudent preventive measures to protect the force and the mission.
