USFK Clarifies One Confirmed COVID-19 Case
PA-001-21 | Feb. 10, 2021
USFK has determined one U.S. service member who was identified as confirmed positive on Feb. 4 was actually “false positive” and will not be counted as confirmed positive.
Based upon further research and discussion after completing an internal quality assessment and control protocol - to include multiple retests of the individual with new samples and on different PCR machines - USFK determined a defective manufactured reagent used during the original PCR testing machine was the reason for the “false positive” reading.
The individuals have been transferred to a quarantine facility on U.S. Army Garrison - Humphreys.
Therefore, USFK will no longer track or count them as a USFK confirmed case.
