USFK Adjusts Health Protection Condition in Areas I and III

PA-001-21 | Feb. 9, 2021

USAG HUMPHREYS, Republic of Korea —

All districts within Area II plus, with the exception of Seongnam district, will remain in HPCON Charlie until further notice.

USFK defines Area II + as the greater Seoul metropolitan area, minus Seongnam district, plus some surrounding areas, with the exact boundary viewable on USFK’s interactive hotspot map located on the USFK COVID-19 page

This movement to HPCON Bravo aligns USFK Areas I and III with the Republic of Korea’s social distancing level 2.0. USFK will continue to abide by ROK social distancing levels when off USFK installations.

Authorized off-installation activities in HPCON Bravo include travel to all areas currently in HPCON Bravo, seated dining at restaurants of less than four people, domestic travel with overnight stays at hotels including Jeju Island, shopping at indoor malls and outdoor activities while maintaining social awareness and physical distancing.

Travel to Area II+ remains off limits except for official duties and necessary travel for life, health and safety only. All other travel requires an exception to policy letter approved by the first O-6 or civilian equivalent within the individual or sponsor’s chain of command.

Residents of Seongnam District are authorized to travel to other HPCON Bravo areas.

Bubble-to-Bubble travel is authorized, including leisure travel to U.S. Army Garrison - Yongsan, effective Feb. 15.

While USFK is adjusting its health protection condition in Areas I and III, and Seongnam district, it is not lowering its guard. All bars, clubs, karaoke rooms and establishments that restrict entrance to adults only remain off limits pen-wide until further notice.

The USFK community must continue to follow all South Korean rules, directives and laws, adhere to USFK core tenets and wear a mask at all times when off installation.

As USFK continues to monitor and assess the conditions within the peninsula, it will immediately snap back to a heightened HPCON posture without hesitation if a resurgence of the threat appears within our formations, installations or communities.
