USAG Humphreys, Republic of Korea —
USFK has determined four U.S. service members who were identified as confirmed positives on Feb. 4 were actually “false positives” and will not be counted as confirmed positives.
Based upon further research and discussion after completing an internal quality assessment and control protocol - to include multiple retests of the four individuals with new samples and on different PCR machines - USFK determined a defective manufactured reagent used during the original PCR testing machine was the reason for the four “false positive” readings.
All four individuals have been transferred to a quarantine facility on U.S. Army Garrison - Humphreys.
Therefore, USFK will no longer track or count them as a USFK confirmed case.
