Three USFK-affiliated Individuals Confirmed with COVID-19

PA-001-21 | Jan. 21, 2021

Three USFK-affiliated individuals have tested positive for COVID-19 on Jan. 20.

One DoD civilian, who works on United States Army Garrison - Yongsan, tested positive after developing symptoms consistent with COVID-19; she last visited USAG-Yongsan on Jan. 18

One dependent, who is the spouse of a DoD employee who tested positive himself on Jan. 16 and has access to USAG - Yongsan, tested positive after developing symptoms consistent with COVID-19; she has been in quarantine at her off-installation Seoul residence since Jan. 14.

One service member, who is stationed at Kunsan Air Base, tested positive after developing symptoms consistent with COVID-19.

Two of the individuals are currently in isolation at an USAG-Humphreys or Osan Air Base facility designated for confirmed COVID-19 cases, and the dependent will isolate at a Korean medical facility.

KDCA and USFK health professionals are actively conducting contact tracing to determine whether anyone else may have been exposed to these individuals, and to identify and ensure all known on-post and off-post facilities visited are thoroughly cleaned.

Despite the confirmed cases, USFK remains at a high level of readiness with less than 1% of its active duty service members currently confirmed positive with COVID-19.

USFK continues to maintain a robust combined defense posture to protect the Republic of Korea against any threat or adversary while maintaining prudent preventive measures to protect the force and the mission.
