USAG HUMPHREYS, Republic of Korea —
Seven USFK-affiliated individuals who work on United States Army Garrison - Yongsan tested positive for COVID-19 on Jan. 13.
Five of the individuals - one Department of Defense civilian and four contractors - all work together on USAG - Yongsan. All five have been in self-quarantine at their separate off-installation residences since Jan. 8 following their direct contact with an individual who recently tested positive for COVID-19.
The sixth individual is the spouse of a DoD contractor mentioned above. She works at a separate location on USAG-Yongsan, and joined her spouse in self-quarantine on Jan. 11 at their off-installation residence.
The seventh individual, a DoD civilian, does not have a direct relationship with the other six individuals who tested positive. He last visited the installation on Jan. 7, and recently sought treatment after developing symptoms consistent with COVID-19.
All seven of the USAG-Yongsan individuals are currently in isolation at their off-installation residences while awaiting transportation to a USAG-Humphreys facility designated for confirmed COVID-19 cases.
KDCA and USFK health professionals are actively conducting contact tracing to determine whether anyone else may have been exposed, and to identify and ensure all known on-post and off-post facilities visited by the individuals are thoroughly cleaned.
Despite the confirmed cases, USFK remains at a high level of readiness with less than 1% of its active duty service members currently confirmed positive with COVID-19.
USFK continues to maintain a robust combined defense posture to protect the Republic of Korea against any threat or adversary while maintaining prudent preventive measures to protect the force.
