Two USFK-affiliated individuals who work on United States Army Garrison - Yongsan tested positive for COVID-19 on Jan. 11.
The first individual, a Korean National who works as a taxi driver, lives in Seoul and last visited the installation on Jan. 10.
The second individual, a Department of Defense contractor, also lives in Seoul and lasted visited the installation on Jan. 8.
Both individuals are currently in isolation at their off-base residences while awaiting transportation to a Korean medical facility and a USAG-Humphreys facility designated for confirmed COVID-19 cases, respectively.
KDCA and USFK health professionals are actively conducting contact tracing to determine whether anyone else may have been exposed, and to identify and ensure all known on-post and off-post facilities visited by these individuals are thoroughly cleaned.
Despite the confirmed cases, USFK remains at a high level of readiness with less than 1% of its active duty service members currently confirmed positive with COVID-19.
USFK continues to maintain a robust combined defense posture to protect the Republic of Korea against any threat or adversary while maintaining prudent preventive measures to protect the force.
