One USFK-affiliated Individual Confirmed with COVID-19

PA-001-21 | Jan. 5, 2021

USAG HUMPHREYS, Republic of Korea —

One USFK-affiliated individual has tested positive for COVID-19.

One Department of Defense civilian, who works on U.S. Army Garrison - Yongsan, tested positive for COVID-19 on Jan. 5.

The individual last visited USAG-Yongsan on Dec. 30 as he followed USFK core tenets by staying away from work and self-quarantining at his off-installation Seongnam residence since Jan. 1 after developing flu-like symptoms.

On Jan. 4, the individual visited K-16 where he sought treatment at the medical clinic, and visited the on-base shoppette and commissary to purchase over-the-counter medication before returning home.

He is currently in isolation at an USAG-Humphreys facility designated for confirmed COVID-19 cases.

KDCA and USFK health professionals are actively conducting contact tracing to determine whether anyone else may have been exposed to this individual, and to identify and ensure all known on-post and off-post facilities visited are thoroughly cleaned.

Despite the confirmed cases, USFK remains at a high level of readiness with less than 1% of its active duty service members currently confirmed positive with COVID-19.

USFK continues to maintain a robust combined defense posture to protect the Republic of Korea against any threat or adversary while maintaining prudent preventive measures to protect the force and the mission.
