Four USFK-affiliated Individuals Confirmed with COVID-19

PA-001-21 | Jan. 1, 2021

USAG HUMPHREYS, Republic of Korea —

Four USFK-affiliated individuals have tested positive for COVID-19.

The four individuals, two retired U.S. service members and their spouses, tested positive for COVID-19 on Dec. 31 following their direct contact with the retired couple who tested positive for the virus on Dec. 30.

Contact tracing revealed the six individuals had contact with each other on Dec. 25.

One of the couples last visited United States Army Garrison - Humphreys on Dec. 29, and the other couple last visited USAG-Humphreys on Dec. 23.

Both of the couples reside in Sangju City (Area IV), and all four individuals are currently in isolation at an USAG-Humphreys facility designated for confirmed COVID-19 cases.

KDCA and USFK health professionals are actively conducting contact tracing to determine whether anyone else may have been exposed to these individuals, and to identify and ensure all known on-post and off-post facilities visited by the contractors are thoroughly cleaned.

Despite the confirmed cases, USFK remains at a high level of readiness with less than 1% of its active duty service members currently confirmed positive with COVID-19.

USFK continues to maintain a robust combined defense posture to protect the Republic of Korea against any threat or adversary while maintaining prudent preventive measures to protect the force and the mission.
