One USFK Dependent Confirmed with COVID-19

PA-001-20 | Nov. 2, 2020

One USFK dependent have tested positive for COVID-19 on Nov. 2.

A USFK dependent who resides in Pyeongtaek tested positive during routine screening for medical services at the Brian D. Allgood Army Community Hospital Nov. 2. The dependent was immediately taken to isolation upon receiving the positive result.

The dependent's sponsor, who is stationed at Camp Humphreys, has tested negative.

"As a testament to the proactive actions of everyone involved in this case, we were able to quickly identify and alert others who were in direct contact with the patient so they could immediately follow our quarantine procedures," said Maj. Gen. Stephen Williams, USFK Chief of Staff.

Contact tracing is ongoing, and USFK medical teams are actively ensuring that all known Camp Humphreys facilities visited by the dependent are thoroughly cleaned.

Despite this confirmed case, USFK remains at HPCON Bravo and at a high level of readiness with less than 1% of its force currently confirmed positive with COVID-19.

USFK continues to maintain a robust combined defense posture to protect the Republic of Korea against any threat or adversary while maintaining prudent preventive measures to protect the force.
