A USFK contractor, who works at Camp Humphreys, tested positive for COVID-19.

The contractor, a U.S. citizen, last visited Camp Humphreys on March 26 and has been in self-quarantine at his off-installation residence since March 30 following his USFK supervisors directing him to self-quarantine because he had been in direct contact with a person who tested positive for COVID-19.

USFK health professionals determined contact tracing and thorough disinfection cleaning of Camp Humphreys’ facilities was not necessary due to his self-quarantine status and lack of interaction with others since March 30. USFK continues to collaborate with local public health authorities and the KCDC to share information and discuss response measures.

This confirmed case stands as a testament to USFK’s standing policy to immediately quarantine anyone who had direct contact with a known person who tested positive for COVID-19. Due to this policy, the patient minimized his exposure and interaction with others and helped contain the virus' spread.

As a precautionary measure to protect the force, Camp Humphreys and Osan Air Base remain at HPCON C+ as they continue contact tracing of its other recent confirmed COVID-19 cases, while the remainder of USFK installations remain at HPCON C as a prudent measure to protect the force and stop the spread of COVID-19.

Despite the confirmed case, USFK remains at a high level of readiness with only two active duty service members who’ve tested positive for COVID-19, and continues to maintain a robust combined defense posture to protect the Republic of Korea against any threat or adversary while maintaining prudent preventive measures to protect the force.
