YONGSAN, South Korea –
The USFK commander sent a memo to employees Friday alerting them to
the post allowance drop and expressing his concern on the effect it will
have on civilian employees and their families. Post Allowance is
granted to U.S. employees officially stationed in a foreign location
where the cost of living is substantially higher than Washington, D.C.
The post allowance permits employees to spend the same portion of their
basic compensation for current living without incurring a reduction in
living standards. The rate dropped to zero percent of spendable income
on May 4, 2014. Employees will see the decrease in this allowance for
the pay period ending May 17, 2014.
