USFK hosted, English and Korean language Defense Operations Security Planners Course

The U.S. Forces Korea, J39, Information Operations and Republic of Korea Combined Forces Command CJ39, hosted Joint Information Operations Warfare Center, Joint OPSEC Support Element (JOSE) mobile training team for Defense Operations Security Planners Course (DOPC) exercise training event, for members of ROK Joint Chiefs of Staff Office and other elements of ROK unit military personnel the week of Jan. 22-26.  

The DOPC was held in the Lt. Gen. Thomas S. Vandal Training Complex at USAG-Humphreys. This is the first full roster class with about 20 students, to help them enhance Operations Security planning principles and concepts for the ROK military. 

DOPC is primarily a OPSEC planner’s course, and only the second time it has been hosted by USFK and CFC in coordination with JOSE for the JCS, CFC and ROK. The first time the course was offered it was a pilot to test delivering the instruction material in Hangul. Only two Korean students attended the first course.  

This course was presented in Hangul and English. With the purpose to train units and organizations to better protect operations, activities, and investments during the OPSEC Military Decision-Making Process planning. Mr. Yu, Byeong Seop, ROK, JCS Security Division Deputy Director, in attendance stated, “The course is one of the best CFC, USFK training’s he has attended and enhanced his understanding of OPSEC and hopes to encourage more ROK personnel to attend future OPSEC related trainings offered. 

The Joint Information Operations Warfare Center routinely supports CFC and USFK with mobile training teams to improve development of information-related capabilities and ensure operational integration and coherence across combatant commands. The DOPC is accredited by the Joint Forces Staff College.
