To All Our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and Civilian Warriors:

Let us be the first to wish you a Happy 4th of July!

Tomorrow we celebrate our Independence Day- a day which commemorates the birth of our young nation 243 years ago. On July 4, 1776 Congress declared that America was a united, free, and independent land. These liberties were hard fought for and won by many of our ancestors. Each and every one of you uphold their legacy today.

At home and abroad we are often reminded that freedom is not free. President Ronald Reagan once said: "Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same." We know that you stand ready to be freedom's sword and shield if called upon.

As you take time this weekend to reflect on our history and your contributions to our great nation, don't forget to connect with those around you and share in celebration. Holidays spent overseas can be a little harder when separated from family - they can also be a little more special when shared with our Military Family. No one should spend this weekend alone. Gather your coworkers, friends, and loved ones. Take time for barbecues, picnics, and fireworks. Enjoy the time off - you've earned it! Whatever you do, stay safe.

We will spend this weekend not only celebrating our great history but also reflecting on the importance of all you do.
