Ulchi Freedom Shield

Ulchi Freedom Shield – a combined, joint, all-domain, and interagency operating environment. This annual exercise aims to build understanding between Combined Forces Command, United States Forces Korea, the United Nations Command, and ROK Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS), ensuring their ability to fortify the combined defense posture and enhance Alliance response capabilities against a spectrum of security threats. It will feature live, virtual, constructive and field-based training, engaging personnel from the various military services.

U.S. Marines with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit’s (MEU) Maritime Special Purpose Force conduct a full mission profile raid during Amphibious Ready Group/MEU Exercise (ARGMEUEX) aboard the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5), Atlantic Ocean, April 25, 2023. The full mission profile raid was part of a training scenario testing the MEU’s ability to develop plans using the rapid response planning process to execute complex missions in a contested environment.
