Ulchi Freedom Shield

Ulchi Freedom Shield – a combined, joint, all-domain, and interagency operating environment. This annual exercise aims to build understanding between Combined Forces Command, United States Forces Korea, the United Nations Command, and ROK Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS), ensuring their ability to fortify the combined defense posture and enhance Alliance response capabilities against a spectrum of security threats. It will feature live, virtual, constructive and field-based training, engaging personnel from the various military services.

Damien Johnson, a Cannon Crewmember with 1st Cavalry Division Artillery, explains why he chose to serve in the U.S. Army while deployed with Task Force Pegasus on Camp Adazi, Latvia June 11, 2024. Johnson, originally from Thayer, Missouri, has only served a few months as a U.S. Army Trooper. The 1st Cavalry Division’s mission in Europe is to engage in multinational training and exercises across the continent, working alongside NATO allies and regional security partners to provide competent and ready forces to V Corps, America’s forward-deployed corps in Europe.
