Ulchi Freedom Shield

Ulchi Freedom Shield – a combined, joint, all-domain, and interagency operating environment. This annual exercise aims to build understanding between Combined Forces Command, United States Forces Korea, the United Nations Command, and ROK Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS), ensuring their ability to fortify the combined defense posture and enhance Alliance response capabilities against a spectrum of security threats. It will feature live, virtual, constructive and field-based training, engaging personnel from the various military services.

Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) members work alongside locals during a recovery mission in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam from July to September 2024. Officials from the Vietnam Office of Seeking Missing Persons, local Vietnamese workers, DPAA personnel and short term individual augments from Marine Wing Support Squadron 174 Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Naval Construction Group One, and 30th Signal Battalion, 516th Signal Brigade combined their efforts and knowledge to conduct recovery operations in Vietnam in an effort to help account for missing personnel from the Vietnam War.
