Ulchi Freedom Shield

Ulchi Freedom Shield – a combined, joint, all-domain, and interagency operating environment. This annual exercise aims to build understanding between Combined Forces Command, United States Forces Korea, the United Nations Command, and ROK Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS), ensuring their ability to fortify the combined defense posture and enhance Alliance response capabilities against a spectrum of security threats. It will feature live, virtual, constructive and field-based training, engaging personnel from the various military services.

U.S. Army Soldiers with the 102nd Military Police Company, 327th Military Police Battalion, complete their pistol qualifications in Adazi, Latvia, on Jan. 13, 2026. The SIG Sauer M17 pistol was a sidearm used daily by Soldiers, including during the U.S. Army’s Law Enforcement Weapons Training and Qualifications, which assessed Soldiers’ ability to maintain weapons proficiency and accuracy during scenarios they may encounter throughout their military careers, ensuring readiness to support fellow NATO allied military police during law enforcement operations.
