Two USFK-affiliated Individuals Confirmed with COVID-19

PA-001-21 | April 8, 2021

Two USFK-affiliated individuals tested positive for COVID-19 on April 7.

One U.S. service member, on a temporary duty to USFK, tested positive after providing a screening sample required to return to his permanent duty station off-peninsula.

One Korean National contractor, who works on Camp Casey in Dongducheon, tested positive following her direct contact with a person who previously tested positive for the virus.

The first individual is in isolation at a U.S. Army Garrison - Humphreys facility designated for confirmed COVID-19 cases, and the second individual is in isolation at her off-base residence while awaiting transportation to a Korean medical facility.

KDCA and USFK health professionals are actively conducting contact tracing to determine whether anyone else may have been exposed to these individuals, and to identify and ensure all known on-post and off-post facilities visited by the individuals are thoroughly cleaned.

Despite the recent confirmed cases, USFK remains at a high level of readiness with less than 1% of its active duty service members currently confirmed positive with COVID-19.

USFK continues to maintain a robust combined defense posture to protect the Republic of Korea against any threat or adversary, while maintaining prudent preventive measures to protect the force and the mission.
