Good afternoon, distinguished leaders and friends of the Alliance.
It is my honor to welcome General Jin Yong-sung, the Chairman of the Republic of Korea Joint Chiefs of Staff.
General Jin in no stranger to Camp Humphryes and we’re glad to have him back.
General Jin brings with him an exceptional record of service and a forward-looking vision that reflects the very best of the ROK Armed Forces. Before assuming this post, he served as the inaugural Commander of the ROK Strategic Command, where he led the integration of Korea’s most advanced strategic capabilities across missile forces, space, and cyber domains.
His leadership there speaks to his mastery of joint operations and the modern technologies that define the future of deterrence and defense.
I must admit… as an Army general, I’m beginning to notice a pattern. Between General Caine back in Washington and now General Jin here in Korea, I find myself serving under two Air Force Officers.
The message seems clear: our national leaders really like their air power. And given the capability, precision, and strategic mindset that both leaders bring, I can absolutely see why.
General Jin, your leadership comes at an important moment for our alliance — a time when technology, strategy, and trust must all move together. Your experience with ROK Strategic Command and your deep understanding of joint power planning will help guide us as we strengthen deterrence, modernize capabilities, and prepare the alliance for the challenges ahead.
On behalf of United Nations Command, Combined Forces Command, and United States Forces Korea — welcome, my friend. We look forward to working side by side with you to build a future-ready alliance, strong in resolve and united in purpose.
