Twelve USFK-affiliated Individuals Confirmed with COVID-19

PA-001-21 | July 26, 2021

Twelve USFK-affiliated individuals tested positive for COVID-19 between July 14 and 26.

Five service members, two stationed at Camp Casey and three stationed at Osan Air Base, tested positive on July 14, 24 and 25 after developing symptoms consistent with COVID-19.

Seven individuals, a DoD civilian and four family members of a different DoD civilian stationed at K-16, and two service member’s family members - one stationed at Camp Carroll and one stationed at Osan Air Base - tested positive between July 24 and 26 after providing a screening sample during USFK’s contact tracing following their direct contact with individuals who recently tested positive for the virus.

Eleven individuals are currently in isolation at a facility designated for confirmed COVID-19 cases at USAG – Humphreys, and an individual who tested positive on July 14 has been released from isolation.

KDCA, local government public health and USFK health professionals are actively conducting contact tracing to determine whether anyone else may have been exposed to these individuals and to identify and ensure all known on-post and off-post facilities visited by the individuals are thoroughly cleaned.

Despite the recent confirmed cases, USFK remains at a high level of readiness with more than 80% of its affiliated community vaccinated, and less than 1% of its active duty service members currently confirmed positive with COVID-19.

USFK continues to maintain a robust combined defense posture to protect the Republic of Korea against any threat or adversary, while maintaining prudent preventive measures to protect the force.
