Getting Started

It is our sincere pleasure to welcome you to the Republic of Korea and the United States Forces Korea (USFK) community. USFK is a joint command composed of Service Members, civilians, and families representing the 8th U.S. Army, 7th Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Space Force, and U.S. Special Operations Command Korea. Together, we form a unified team dedicated to defending the Korean Peninsula and supporting regional security.

An overseas Permanent Change of Station (PCS) can present unique challenges, even for those with prior experience. Whether you are assigned to the Eighth U.S. Army or any other U.S. military component in Korea, you will find a network of support to ease your transition. From unit sponsorship programs to human resources offices and newcomer resources, each organization is committed to helping you and your family adjust smoothly to life in Korea.

Living and serving in Korea provides a one-of-a-kind opportunity to experience a dynamic culture while contributing to a critical mission. Across the peninsula, you’ll find vibrant communities and a range of support services including Family and Community Programs, Child and Youth Services, Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR), the USO, Better Opportunities for Single Service Members (BOSS), and more.

While relocating overseas can be demanding, know that the entire USFK team is here to support you—throughout your PCS process and your tour of duty. On behalf of USFK and all its components, welcome to Korea. We are proud to have you here.
