Ulchi Freedom Shield

Ulchi Freedom Shield – a combined, joint, all-domain, and interagency operating environment. This annual exercise aims to build understanding between Combined Forces Command, United States Forces Korea, the United Nations Command, and ROK Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS), ensuring their ability to fortify the combined defense posture and enhance Alliance response capabilities against a spectrum of security threats. It will feature live, virtual, constructive and field-based training, engaging personnel from the various military services.

Sailors assigned to Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5) and Marines assigned to 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable) were pinned to the rank of Chief Petty Officer in the ship's hangar bay while in the Arabian Gulf, Sept. 29. Components of the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group and 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit Special Operations Capable (SOC) are deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations to help ensure maritime security and stability in the Middle East region.
