Army Command Sgt. Maj. John W. Troxell, the senior enlisted advisor for United Nations Command, Combined Forces Command, U.S. Forces Korea, has been selected as the new senior enlisted advisor to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

“Sergeant Major Troxell is someone Soldiers, Airmen, Marines and Sailors can look up to,” said Gen. Joseph F. Dunford Jr., the 19th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. “He can inspire people, and he is someone I trust to tell me things straight.”

The SEAC position was created 10 years ago to advise the military’s top officer and Troxell will serve as the 3rd senior enlisted advisor.

“I was so humbled that the Chairman had this amount confidence in me to be his senior enlisted advisor,” said Troxell.  “Now I’ll have an opportunity to influence more service members and their families at a global scale.”

In his position as the SEAC, Troxell will serve as the military’s most senior noncommissioned officer. He will advise the chairman and Secretary of Defense on all matters involving joint and combined force integration, utilization, health of the force and joint development for enlisted service members.

“He is a battle-tested, dedicated and selfless leader who will provide the best counsel and feedback to our chairman and Secretary of Defense as it pertains to our enlisted force and its families,” said Sgt. Maj. Bryan B. Battaglia, the current SEAC, in a Facebook statement.

CSM Troxell will relinquish his position as the senior enlisted advisor for United Nations Command, Combined Forces Command, U.S. Forces Korea on December 2, 2015.

“CSM Troxell, you have been an essential advisor and leader, and a true friend.  Your actions, confidence, and impeccable bearing have inspired us all – and I know you will excel as the Senior Enlisted Advisor to the U.S. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.  On behalf of the Command, I want to thank you for your superb leadership,” said Gen. Curtis M. Scaparrotti, Commander United Nations Command, Combined Forces Command, and United States Forces Korea during Command Sgt. Maj. Troxell’s Change of Responsibility ceremony.
