Welcome

Welcome to the Forces, Resources and Assessment Directorate (J8). As the Commander’s strategic planning and programming staff, we conduct research and quantitative analysis to support USFK and USKORCOM policy, plans, operations, exercises, and contingencies. The Directorate’s horizon spans from quick-reaction studies/analysis in support of the Commander’s short-term operational & planning decisions, to long-term program analysis and evaluation oversight of operations, forces, and weapon systems as well as associated command-wide policy and structure. We develop and coordinate force structure requirements for USFK in conjunction with out-year Planning, Programming, Budgeting and Execution (PPBE) processes. As the Commander’s lead for USFK’s Transformation efforts, we research, analyze and assess war plans, joint capabilities, and budgets to meet today’s USFK requirements and USKORCOM’s requirements for 2012 and beyond. Finally, we support the Commander’s capabilities-based planning efforts through the creation of and/or input to Strategic Planning Guidance, Joint Programming Guidance, Program Objective Memorandums, Chairman's Program Assessments, Chairman's Program Recommendations, Comprehensive Joint Assessments, and Integrated Priority Lists.
